But the list stops at house 125. Help ============================= TOM REPLIED I fixed the page. It was broke. Thompson ==== ======================================================== Help re PHILIP LAFFER and his wife MARY CAPLES LAFFER. Philip born Westmoreland Co. Penn. in 1795, moved to Tuscarawas Co. Ohio and then to Columbia Co. Oregon. Possibly stops between Ohio & Or. Mare Caple LAFFER born Pennsylvania circa 1797. Moved to Maryland with parents, then to Ohio. They were married 6 june 1816 in Tuscarawas County Both appear in 1860 Census for Union District,Columbia Co Oregon. Walter Laffer LafferWBII@aol.com ====================================================================== ALSO, from Laffer above: JOSEPH CAPLES and his wife MARY LAFFER CAPLES Joseph born in Maryland, 1802/1803 and moved to Tuscarawas Co Ohio then to Columbia County Oregon. Wife MARY LAFFER CAPLES born in Virginia (now West Va.) circa 1811-1816 Joseph appears in 1860 census, Union District -Columbia County ====================================================================== Tom replied : see 1880 census, in this ColCo page. Shows lots of Caples in house 52 and house 42. See the page. Also see http://www.columbia-center.org/hpcolumbiacity/ and look for CAPLES HOUSE, a preserved landmark, DAR museum. =============================================================== Walter Laffer continues: I am trying to find out where Joseph's wife Mary Laffer Caples died and might be buried. She does not appear in the 1860 census either. There were horrible cholera -1832 and Scarlet Fever and Measles - 1840 epidemics in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Many children and mothers died. Maybe so did Mary. I shall have to go back and double check the cemetery books. I think there may be some Laffer Probate records in Oregon. I saw a list the first time I connected to the Oregon GENWEB page, but ever since then I get timed out from the archives page. I shall keep trying. Thank you again for your help. Walter ===================================================================== Looking for DONALD E KYES burial, died 4 Oct 1983 in Scappoose Colco Oregon. kyes2@webtv.net ============================================================== Tom says: our Mortuary extraction, 1929-1990, done by hand, shows KYES, Donald E - died 1983. Ask the guys at Columbia Funeral Home, Inc 681 Columbia Boulevard, St. Helens Oregon 97051 503-397-1154 They might read you the record. I expect they will photocopy the record for you ONLY if you explain why. Mort's are a bit sensitive about some things. And Family History is a perfectly good "why" I WOnder if I can find the disks of the Mort. Extraction, and put it on the web page. ==================================================================
