His family immigrated to Michigan and in the late 1930's he was living in the hills above Veronia. Or. He was dead probably before 1944. My mother remembers visiting him in '39 or so and that he lived in a shack up a macadam road. He was unmarried and had no children. ====================================================== From - Tue Dec 22 20:10:34 1998 From: "Robinson Janice A" To: bartom@columbia-center.org Subject: Columbia Co. query CLINE, NEFF, and EVERSOLE I am interested in the John Edward CLINE, b.Jan 1869 in Oregon and lived for quite some time in the southern portion of Columbia County. By oral tradition I have that his parents surnames were, CLINE and NEFF. John married Minnie Myrtle EVERSOLE in Columbia Co. in 1894. Minnie is the d/o William C. EVERSOLE b.1850 Cedar Co., MO and Nancy Jane MESSINGER b. 1853 in Guthrie Co., IA. I would appreciate any help with this line and am willing to share what I have. TIA, Jan desdemona@columbia-center.org ====TOM notes: The 1880 census (qv)shows Cline family (#108) with John age 43 and Edward Age 11. That makes Edward born in 1869. Aha! Only Clines in the county in 1880. Kids of John & Maria are Edward, Mary, Betsy, William, Dortha, Harry & Ellner. The actual location of house 108 is unknown to me,but the headers say "Sauvies Island, Union & Scappoose Precincts" Barbara says Union includes the Warren area, where we live, between Scappoose and St. Helens. Current Phonebook shows Kieth A Cline, 543-7010. There are a halfdozen Clines in Longview, Kelso & Castle Rock (Wash.) ========================================================== From - Tue Dec 22 20:19:57 1998 From: Marilyn Drake I am interested in a couple of lookups. Then entry is with : Ella Miller, wife of James Gertrude Ulman Miller Howard M. James E. M. Joaquin. M. Julia A. M. Raymond M. Spary M. Vera M. Wilbur M. The record is an alphabetical list of Scappoose Area, Fairview Cemetery, just South of Scappoose along Hwy. 30. The other millers are not necessarily placed closeby. Compiler - Aileen Stevens Viles, Scappoose Oregon. =========================== Ida Mae Miller, Pg 11 says: Miller, Ida Mae 20 March 1976. Cl-1 L36 Sp 02 Aparently nearby are Lola Peterson, Oliver & Mina C. Anderson and M. Rebecca Holmes, (Hanelt) Lola Peterson shows same date, 20 March 1976. (Could be transcription error) The records are of the City of Clatskanie-Maplewood Cemetery. 0.3 miles South from stoplight in Clatskanie. Map shows Clatskanie 1st Addition & others, probably what Cl-1 means. Compiler - Clarissa Meyer, Clatskanaie OR ===================================== Meanwhile, my 1880 Census transcription shows only one MILLER family in the whole county - in House 43, James W Miller, age 31, Catharine his wife, age 23 William age 6 and Oran age 4 and Horace age 2 ============= Therer are about 45 MILLERs in the local Mortuary records, which we copied out 1929-1990. Charles does not show. Nor does Ida Mae. Charles died before 1929 and Ida Mae would have been handled thru a Clatskanaie mortuary. ======================== No help from the wide-area phone book - Too many millers. ============================== If you want to pin things down further, write again. ============CHEERS==========TOM=============
