BROWN, PRICE, WHETNALL posted by Ruth WHETNALL. on Wednesday, December 15, 1999: Dick WHETNALL lived in Hermiston, Umatilla County 1950 - 1965. When & where did he marry Mrs. Olive PRICE? Olive operated a boarding house in Hermiston. Dick was a heavy- equipment mechanic. Dick & Olive divorced and Dick married Wanda BROWN in 1962. Does anyone have any photographs of Dick WHETNALL. DRISKELL posted by Jeanne L. Wilson on Sunday, December 26, 1999: I'm looking for information on Clyde DRISKELL, who lived in Pendleton, Umatilla County, Oregon in 1946-1947. His mother owned an arts & crafts shop - it was registered under her name, "Virgie DRISKELL," tho' only registered for one year. Clyde would have been in his mid to late 20's, at best estimate, at that time. I believe he may have worked "in the woods," perhaps a sawyer or some sort of lumberman. I realize this trail is 50+ years old, but any information would be appreciated at this late date. Clyde's mother was a full blooded Indian, tho I do not know what tribe she was. Thank you.

MCMARTIN, STEADMAN posted by Pat McMartin on Monday, January 10, 2000: I have traced a gr.grandmother, Minetta R. McMARTIN to Hermiston, Umatilla County Oregon. She is buried in the Hermiston City Cemetery. Minnie was born Oct 2, 1855 in Idaho and died Dec 26, 1955. Her spouse died in 1921 and is buried in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. I am looking for any other relatives, friends and or associates of this lady. She mave also used the name A STEADMAN.

ROOT posted by Chris Sanders on Monday, January 10, 2000: Seeking information about Frederick C. ROOT, who died 05 Oct 1948 in Hermiston, Umatilla Co., Oregon. According to his obit, he served on the Hermiston Police force and was Chief of Police for some time. Would like to learn more about his time with the department. Prior to his time with the Police force he was employed on the UOD guard force, can someone tell me something about it and what the initials UOD stand for. Any help is greatly appreciated.

MORRIS posted by Sharon Knight on Monday, January 10, 2000: I am searching for information about Elijah MORRIS and his wife Amanda. Elijah was b. abt. 1833 and I am told that he and his wife are buried in the Pendleton Cemetery in Umatilla County. Would any of you have any information about his parents names, dates of birth or marriage information? Would anyone know what Amanda's maiden name might have been? I have found a Elijah MORRIS in the tax records in both Empire City and Coquille River which are in Coos County but have been able to find little else. There is an 1870 census record for an Elijah MORRIS but his birth date would have been 1809. Thank you for any and all help.

Other info on the MILLER Family - earliest records are in New York, Allen or Cornelius MILLER, possibly from Westchester Co, New York, later records are Cornelius MILLER 1798-1864, m. 1824 Steuben Co, New York, (Elizabeth HORTON b. ca 1798), William MILLER 1829-1912, m. ca 1848 Shiawassee Co., Michigan, (Emma Jane SARGENT b. ca 1830, Vermont), & Andrew Judson MILLER 1857-1824, m. 1890, Missoula Co, Montana, (Wilhelmine Augusta WENDT, 1870-1941). FRANCE who homesteaded in Heppner, Umatilla Co., married her hired man and after proving-up sold her land to her uncle, Charles WHITE, whose descendents, I am told, still live in the Umatilla Co. and Walla Walla area. Moved from Minnesota in the 1880's. Family formerly lived in Tioga Co. New York. The maiden name of Minnie France was WICKERSHAM. There were numerous relatives living in the Umatilla County - Walla Walla area at the end of the last century.
