PENN, RIGGS posted by Jari Sinnwell on Tuesday, March 2, 1999: Seeking information on the family of Merle PENN, born 18 Oct, 1906 in North Dakota, and died Nov 1985 in Pendleton, Umatilla, Oregon. His parents William Edward PENN and Laura Amazil RIGGS. Both parents died early, leaving the children orphans. His siblings were Bertha, Mildred, and Howard. Howard ended up in Washington Co, Oregon. I have no further information on his sisters.

DOBLE posted by Rene on Saturday, March 13, 1999: I am looking for info on Merrill DOBLE he was married to Jenny Elizabeth (maiden name?) After her death he married Bess (maiden name?). I believe at one time he was a postmaster in Pendleton, Umatilla Co., Oregon. Bess died in 1971 but I think he died in early 1960? Trying to trace ancestors etc. Thank you for assistance or advise.

He was the son of L. H. and Susan GRIGGS both born in Missouri. Brothers and sisters include Joseph P. born 1864 Illinois, S. Ann born 1867 Illinois, Letha A. b. 18 Feb1868 probably Illinois d. 23 May1884 Linn County OR, Charles H. born 1872 Illinois, Effie M. born 1874 Illinois, and Jessie A. b. 30 Sep1876 in Oregon, d. 14 Feb1903 in Linn County OR. My grandmother allegedly visited his gravesite or him during the Pendleton Roundup in Umatilla County around 1950. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please contact me via email. Thank you.

CULL, MCDANNALD posted by D. Bea Peden Price on Monday, March 15, 1999: MCDANNALD, John and wife Margaret CULL left Mt. Streling, IL for Walla Walla in 1865 and arrived in 1866. She died March 8, 1887 and he on January 15, 1890. The had a 160 acre homestead in Umatilla Co. Oregon, near Milton. "He took an active part in the county's development. Both died at the homestead and are buried in the Ford Cemetery in the McDannald Plot." Any info appreciated.

My husband, Jimmie MARKER grew up in Hermiston, Umatilla Co. along with his brother Fred MARKER and sister Betty (MARKER) BUELL. Their parents were Floyd MARKER and Mary Leone (RIVERS) MARKER. Mary remarried after the death of Floyd to Jess (?) WILLIAMS. Believe my busband's grandmother May RIVERS lived within a close proximity. Anyone have a connection? Any information? PLUMBLEE, REESE posted by Robert Reese on Thursday, March 18, 1999: I am working on brothers William & Thomas REESE who immigrated to the Umatilla County area sometime after the Civil War from Buncombe County NC. Their father was William REESE married to Margaret Caroline PLUMBLEE. They would have both died sometime after 1928. William was a medical doctor and I believe was also a drummer boy in the Confederate army. He lived in Milton, Oregon in the 1920s. His brother Thomas was a professor in a college somewhere in the area (Idaho?). I have an address of Wapah Washington in 1928 for him but have not been able to locate any such place. If anyone has information about them or their families, I would be most grateful. Willing to share all data I have about their ancestors in NC. Thanks for your help!

Alice GRAHAM, child - Floyd, b. 1928, Deer Park, Spokane Co., Washington, d.1982; M. Anne I would also like to know when Samuel Landis Caldwell and family moved to Gurdane, Oregon. I do know that they came from Colorado to Gurdane after their son, Samuel Marion was born in 1881. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Lived in Hermiston, Umatilla County, Oregon from about 1905 to 1916. Interested in exchanging information with anyone with knowledge of descendants of this family.

ANDERSON, HUMBERD, WINN posted by Lynn Sullivan on Wednesday, April 7, 1999: Looking for info on John Alexander ANDERSON, b Tennessee ca 1820. Listed in the 1880 Oregon census as John "L" in Greasewood (Helix), Umatilla Co., Oregon. He married Tennessee Jane HUMBERD in Polk Co., Missouri 30 Aug 1849. Family lived in Clark Co, Illinois ca 1865 to 1877. Then to Butte Co., California until moving to Helix, Umatilla Co., Oregon ca 1879. John and Tennessee had daughter, Serena (bn 1854 Missouri) who was also listed in 1880 in Helix as wife of Thomas WINN. She died 25 March 1882: buried in old Helix Cemetery. Other children of John and Tennessee Jane: Arnetta E., Christina, Andrew J., Ida J., and May. John ANDERSON also had brother, Andrew J ("AJ") who died in Athena, Umatilla Co, Oregon in 1890. This family "disappears" after 1880! Any info appreciated!

BOWMAN, MCALLISTER, POTTER posted by Melvin McAllister on Sunday, April 25, 1999: Thomas and Flora (POTTER) MCALLISTER were in the 1920 Umatilla County census. Daughter Evelyn married Hugh BOWMAN. Hugh died in Umatilla County, Oregon 5 June 1973 and Evelyn died 6 June 1973. There was another daughter by the name of Goldie MCALLISTER. The whereabouts of Thomas and Flora MCALLISTER is not known except for a letter written by Flora in 1940 from Los Angeles, CA. Nothing else is known about Hugh and Evelyn BOWMAN. Any information on any of these is appreciated. Any help to lookup obit and courthouse data will be appreciated.
